What if..?

…Exeter was recognised for its arts, culture, heritage, and creativity? Exeter Culture believes that the city plays host to a unprecedentedly wide, diverse and underappreciated pool of creative talent and expertise. In the difficult challenges of today’s society, the best approach to supporting creativity across sectors is through collaboration, shared goals, and support from experts.

Exeter Culture utilises the business engagement, partnership development, innovation and entrepreneurial expertise of the University of Exeter’s creative economy team to advocate for the city, and its creative practitioners and organisations. Whether it be supporting with bid writing, forging new partnerships and networks, or overseeing a creative programme, the team aims to join up the academic knowledge of the university with industries in the creative economy.

Our aims:

We want to attract and retain creative talent. Exeter Culture will contribute to a rich and growing creative ecosystem - learning to carry our city forward together, by sharing our ideas and skills across art forms and disciplines. We will grow and support investment in arts and heritage through knowledge exchange, targeted interventions and advocacy.

Working
with each
other

Making the connections that turn ambitions into reality.

Our small core team works hard to forge and nurture connections, initiate and facilitate conversations, and encourage and enable co-creation. Everything we do is focused around the principles of place-shaping: to support the development of Exeter as a city that thinks and acts differently about how we use and share space; to model decision-making that contributes to an environment that is beautiful and meaningful to the people who live, work and play here.

Supported by a collaboration between stakeholders University of Exeter and Exeter City Council, Exeter Culture is here to improve the resilience and ambition of Exeter’s arts and cultural sector by creating new local, national and international connections that define the city’s future.

Together with the city’s creative practitioners and cultural organisations, we will shape a vibrant, creative and culturally rich quality of life for those who live in, work in and visit Exeter.

If you’d like to start a conversation, get in touch.
